Today, our nation takes a significant step forward in unleashing its full potential as a leader in infrastructure development. As a nation of builders, Canada has a proud history of shaping its landscape through ambitious projects that have connected communities, fueled economic growth, and improved the quality of life for citizens.

To build on this legacy, our government is launching the Major Projects Office, a centralized hub dedicated to streamlining the approval process for large-scale projects. This innovative initiative will enable us to develop critical infrastructure, such as new ports, highways, and energy grids, more efficiently and effectively.

By providing a single point of access, the Major Projects Office will eliminate unnecessary delays, reduce bureaucratic red tape, and ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner – often within two years, rather than the traditional five to ten years. At the same time, we remain committed to upholding the highest environmental standards and engaging in meaningful consultations with Indigenous peoples, as Canadians expect and deserve.

To lead this critical initiative, we are proud to appoint a seasoned builder with extensive experience in delivering complex projects as the CEO of the new headquarters in Calgary. With their expertise, we are confident that we can overcome the challenges that have hindered progress in the past and drive real results for Canadians.
