The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Uyo Zonal Directorate has apprehended seven individuals on the suspicion of internet fraud in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This operation took place on Monday, August 25, 2025, when the EFCC operatives carried out a raid at Uyeh Heaven and Ayam Estates, located along Ring Road 3. The arrests were made based on credible information regarding the accused individuals' involvement in various internet scams.

Among the items confiscated from the suspects are five laptops, ten mobile phones, and one iPad. These electronic devices are commonly used in the perpetration of internet fraud, also known as 'yahoo-yahoo' in local parlance.
