"Fostering a Safe and Informed Community: Calgary Police Service's Summer Camp Initiative

This summer, the Calgary Police Service had the privilege of partnering with the Immigrant Outreach Society to deliver an 8-week camp for 260 youth newcomers. The camp aimed to equip these young individuals with a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian school system, government, and laws.

As part of this enriching experience, the youth spent a day at the YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre and police headquarters, where they gained valuable insights into community safety and policing in Canada. Our dedicated teams, including the Diversity Resource Team, Community Mobilizer Team, and Hate Crime Prevention Team, delivered engaging presentations, facilitated activities, and provided guidance to empower the youth throughout the camp.

We are grateful to the Immigrant Outreach Society for this opportunity to contribute to building safer and more informed communities. By working together, we can create a positive and inclusive environment that fosters growth, understanding, and mutual respect. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and making a meaningful impact in the lives of our community members."
