On Vietnam Veterans' Day, we recognize and pay tribute to every Australian who served in that conflict on our behalf. This day marks the 59th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, the most costly battle of the entire war. Throughout the years, our respect remains for the courage, integrity, and character of our Vietnam Veterans, as well as the understanding that all who serve our nation bear a significant burden.

To those who lost their lives and to every veteran who returned home profoundly affected by their experiences, we express the sentiments that should have been conveyed for many years: We honor you and we thank you.
