On a crisp October day in 1977, the city of Calgary witnessed a remarkable spectacle as a Concorde supersonic jet soared through the skies, marking the grand opening of the city's new airport. The Concorde, a collaborative effort between British and French engineers, made its maiden flight on March 2, 1969, and began commercial operations in early 1976. Powered by four Olympus 593 engines, this turbojet-powered marvel was capable of reaching incredible speeds of up to Mach 2.04, reducing travel times between destinations. With a passenger capacity of 92 to 144, the Concorde offered a unique flying experience, albeit with a limited range of 6,580 kilometers.

Despite its remarkable capabilities, only 20 Concorde aircraft were ever produced, with 14 remaining in service until its eventual retirement.
