Kaduna Police have detained a suspected vote buyer

Kaduna Police have detained a suspected vote buyer, Shehu Aliyu Patangi, who was found in possession of ₦25.96 million in cash shortly before the bye-elections scheduled for Saturday.

The arrest took place at around 3:30 a.m. at a hotel on Turunku Road, conducted by operatives from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services.

According to police spokesman DSP Mansir Hassan, initial investigations suggest the funds were intended for voter inducement. The suspect has reportedly admitted to the allegations and has requested leniency.

Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad emphasized that the police command will not tolerate vote buying, thuggery, or any actions that could compromise the electoral process.
