"Earlier today, I had the privilege of meeting with Anacláudia Marinheiro Centeno Rossbach, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Habitat, and the UN-Habitat team in Nairobi, Kenya, alongside my colleagues. The primary aim of this engagement was to explore potential areas of collaboration between UN Habitat and the Oyo State Government, particularly in light of our recent establishment of the Oyo State New Towns and Cities Development Authority (NTCDA).

I am thrilled to report that our discussions were highly productive, and we have secured support from UN-Habitat in two critical areas: urban regeneration and new city initiatives. This partnership will not only enhance our efforts to create sustainable cities but also provide valuable insights for integrating our agribusiness development initiatives into our urban planning strategies. Furthermore, UN-Habitat will provide technical assistance in policy formulation, ensuring that our urbanization efforts align with global best practices in sustainable urban development.

This collaboration marks an important milestone in our endeavors to create livable cities and promote economic growth in Oyo State. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with UN-Habitat and the opportunity to leverage their expertise in achieving our developmental goals."

Governor Seyi Makinade.
