Question: What is more virtuous for a Muslim woman — to prioritize household duties and her husband's rights, or to focus on seeking religious knowledge by employing a foreign servant to handle the household tasks?

Answer: It is essential for a Muslim woman to gain as much understanding of her religion as she can. At the same time, fulfilling her responsibilities towards her husband, obeying him (in lawful matters), and raising her children are also significant obligations. She should set aside some time each day for study, no matter how brief, whether by sitting down for a short period or reading something beneficial daily. The rest of her time should be devoted to her household duties. Therefore, she should neither neglect her pursuit of knowledge nor overlook her chores and children by relying entirely on a servant. Instead, she should adopt a balanced approach, managing both responsibilities. Even if her study time is limited, consistency in seeking knowledge is important, while also ensuring that she dedicates enough time to her household obligations.
