Edmonton Police Investigate Multi-Vehicle Collision on 82 Street

A portion of 82 Street in Edmonton was closed on Tuesday evening due to a multi-vehicle collision involving five cars. According to the Edmonton Police Service, the incident occurred when a 28-year-old man allegedly rear-ended a Dodge Ram while traveling south on 82 Street, just south of 127 Avenue. The collision then triggered a chain reaction, involving a Mercedes, a Ford Focus, and a Mitsubishi RVR.

The driver of the initial vehicle was arrested and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The drivers of the other vehicles involved sustained minor injuries. The Edmonton Police Service's [or collision investigations section is currently investigating the incident.

As a result of the collision, 82 Street was completely closed between Yellowhead Trail and 127 Avenue. Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area while the investigation was ongoing. The road was reopened around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices, particularly in high-traffic areas. The Edmonton Police Service continues to work to ensure the safety of all road users and will provide updates on the investigation as more information becomes available.
