In response to growing concerns from the community about ongoing drug-related activities, detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service's 2 District Street Crime Unit conducted an active patrol in the vicinity of Main Street and Ferry Street earlier today. The proactive measures led to the arrest of one individual and the filing of drug charges.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., officers observed three individuals engaging in suspicious behavior behind a commercial building within the parking lot of a retirement home, indicating potential drug trafficking and use. Following a thorough investigation, 21-year-old Lucas Orcutt from Niagara Falls was taken into custody.

Orcutt now faces charges for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl and Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000. During the arrest, authorities recovered 38.5 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $8,360, a cell phone, a digital weighing scale, and $710 in Canadian currency.

The Niagara Regional Police Service remains committed to addressing drug-related issues in the community and will continue to work closely with local residents to ensure public safety. Lucas Orcutt is scheduled to appear in court at a future date to answer to the charges.

This concerted effort by the 2 District Street Crime Unit demonstrates the police service's dedication to tackling drug activity and maintaining a safe and secure environment for the citizens of Niagara Falls.
