One woman, identified as Omet MARKOJULLO, 27, from Calgary

One woman, identified as Omet MARKOJULLO, 27, from Calgary, has been charged with assault following an incident at a Canadian Liquor Store located at 619 Shawcliffe Gate S.W. on August 1, 2025.

The accused allegedly verbally harassed staff and customers, asked the cashier personal questions, and then spat at her while making racially charged comments. Two customers who witnessed the assault immediately called the police.

The Calgary Police Service's Hate Crime Prevention Team is involved in the investigation to determine if the incident was motivated by hate, as it may fall under the category of a hate-motivated crime. These crimes are recognized offenses where the offender is driven by bias, prejudice, or hate towards one of the nine personal characteristics of the victim.
