Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Monday, August 4

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for our area, effective from 1:45 PM to 10:00 PM on Monday, August 4. This watch warns of potential severe thunderstorms that may bring strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain to our region.

As of now, thunderstorms have developed over the foothills and Cypress Hills, and are expected to move east and northeast throughout the day. While not all storms will be severe, a few may intensify, posing a threat to local residents and infrastructure.

It's essential to be aware of the hazards associated with severe thunderstorms. Heavy rain can lead to flash flooding, reduce visibility, and make travel dangerous. Large hail can cause significant damage to property, vehicles, and even lead to injuries.

Residents are advised to stay informed and monitor local weather conditions closely. If a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, please take necessary precautions to ensure your safety.

Stay safe, and stay tuned for further updates.
