President Bola Tinubu has vowed to fully support Nigeria's senior women's basketball team, D'Tigress, as they gear up for the final of the 2025 FIBA Women's AfroBasket tournament this Sunday in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, where they seek to achieve an unprecedented fifth consecutive continental title.

In a message of congratulations released on Sunday morning, President Tinubu praised the team for their "remarkable achievement" following their hard-fought 75–68 victory in the semi-finals against their long-time rivals, Senegal. This victory not only advanced D'Tigress to their fifth consecutive AfroBasket final, but it also marked their seventh consecutive win against Senegal. Referring to the match at the Palais des Sports, Treichville, as "the final before the final," the President commended the current African champions for their steadfast resilience, strategic discipline, and ongoing excellence in continental basketball. "I have witnessed the discipline, focus, and team spirit that D'Tigress has consistently demonstrated throughout this tournament—qualities that have brought honor to our nation and earned our players and coaches respect on the global stage," stated President Tinubu.
