The Calgary Police Service recently had the privilege of hosting a group of ambitious young women, girls, and gender-diverse youth from Camp Courage Calgary, a remarkable initiative dedicated to inspiring the next generation of first responders. This innovative program provides a unique opportunity for its participants to explore careers in law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical services, while fostering courage, dedication, and teamwork.

Over the course of two engaging days, the Camp Courage participants immersed themselves in the world of policing, gaining valuable insights into the daily life of a police officer. They were introduced to the various aspects of law enforcement, including the challenges, rewards, and responsibilities that come with serving and protecting the community. Through interactive sessions and hands-on activities, the participants developed a deeper understanding of the essential skills required to excel in this field, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.

Camp Courage: First Responders Society is a collaborative effort between the Calgary Police Service, the City of Calgary Fire Department, Alberta Health Services, and the YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre, with funding from the Calgary Police Youth Foundation. This joint initiative aims to provide a comprehensive and inclusive platform for young individuals to explore their passion for first response careers.

By providing a supportive and engaging environment, Camp Courage Calgary empowers its participants to develop the confidence, skills, and knowledge necessary to pursue their dreams in the first responder sector. As a result, these young individuals are more likely to become inspired leaders, making a positive impact in their communities.
