URGENT TRAVEL ALERT

A small plane, identified as a Piper Navajo C charter aircraft, has crashed near the entrance to Deer Lake NL airport on the Trans-Canada Highway. The highway is currently closed in the area, and motorists are advised to avoid the region due to a heavy presence of first responders.

The aircraft, which took off from Deer Lake airport, crashed approximately six minutes later alongside the TCH. The Airport Fire Department is on site, and emergency services are attending to the situation.
