The Alberta Emergency Alert system is pleased to announce the cancellation of the wildfire alert for the Town of Slave Lake and the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River. This alert was issued due to the proximity of Wildfire SWF149, which no longer poses an immediate threat to the affected areas.

Residents of the Town of Slave Lake, including properties along Devonshire Road North, as well as those in the Hamlet of Marten Beach, Summerwood, TWPRD 740, and Gillwood Golf Course in the MD of Lesser Slave River, can breathe a sigh of relief as the evacuation alert has been cancelled.

While the threat has been mitigated, it is essential for the public to remain vigilant and stay informed about the status of wildfires in the region. We recommend that everyone continues to monitor the Alberta Wildfire app or website for updates on fire activity, burning restrictions, and any other relevant information.

This cancellation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the firefighters, emergency responders, and local authorities who have worked tirelessly to contain and manage the wildfire. However, it is crucial that we all remain aware of our surroundings and take necessary precautions to prevent wildfires from occurring in the first place.

As we move forward, it is essential to prioritize fire safety and Take steps to prevent human-caused wildfires. This includes being cautious with campfires, following burning restrictions, and reporting any signs of wildfires to the authorities immediately.
