ALBERTA CALLS ON OTTAWA TO LABEL BISHNOI GANG A TERRORIST GROUP

"The Lawrence Bishnoi Gang poses a significant threat to public safety, both domestically and globally. This transnational criminal organization has been linked to a disturbing array of violent and illegal activities, including extortion, drug trafficking, and targeted killings, with a presence that extends to our own borders here in Canada.

As we acknowledge the pervasive nature of gang activity, which disregards territorial boundaries and respects no borders, it is imperative that we take decisive action to combat this menace. Designating the Bishnoi Gang as a terrorist entity is a crucial step in empowering our law enforcement agencies to effectively dismantle their operations and safeguard our communities.

This formal designation will grant provincial and municipal authorities access to vital resources and tools, enabling them to disrupt the gang's criminal activities and protect Albertans and Canadians from harm. The Government of Alberta is urging the federal government and Prime Minister Mark Carney to join forces in taking a resolute stance against the Bishnoi Gang's criminal pursuits.

The time for decisive action is upon us. By standing together, we can send a clear message: the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang is not welcome in Alberta, nor in any other part of Canada. We must act now to ensure the safety and security of our citizens, and we look forward to collaborating with our federal counterparts to achieve this critical goal."
