The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully carried out a significant operation in Edo State's Ewere Uzebba forest, where they discovered and destroyed three cannabis farms containing a total of 28,000 kilograms of skunk. The operation was part of the ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug cultivation and trafficking in the country.

The NDLEA operatives faced resistance during the raid, as they reportedly came under gunfire. However, they managed to complete their mission without any casualties or injuries sustained by their team. The destruction of these farms represents a substantial blow to the illicit drug trade in the region, as skunk is a highly potent strain of cannabis that is often sought after for its intense psychoactive effects.

In a separate operation in Lagos, the agency also reported the seizure of 700 kilograms of Ghana Loud, which is a slang term for a type of cannabis, and other illicit substances. Two suspects were apprehended in connection with the drug bust.

Simultaneously, the NDLEA has been conducting World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sensitization campaigns across the nation to educate individuals, particularly athletes, on the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle. These campaigns aim to raise awareness about the health risks associated with doping and promote fair competition in sports.

The NDLEA's continuous efforts to dismantle drug farms and trafficking networks, as well as their commitment to public education and prevention, underscore the agency's dedication to reducing the availability and consumption of illicit substances in Nigeria.
