CBSA President Erin O'Gorman and Canada's Minister of Public Safety, Gary Anandasangaree, visiting various CBSA facilities in the Quebec Region. The visits to the Montreal Marine and Rail Service, the Immigration Holding Centre in Laval, and the St-Bernard-de-Lacolle port of entry are essential for gaining a firsthand understanding of the critical work done by CBSA officers.

The discussions and interactions with the officers who are on the front lines examining containers and intercepting stolen vehicles provide valuable insight into the challenges and successes of maintaining border security and preventing illicit goods from entering the country. The visit to the immigration holding center also highlights the importance of the CBSA's role in managing Canada's borders and upholding the integrity of its immigration system.

Having the additional presence of Kevin Brosseau, Canada's Fentanyl Czar, and Nathalie Provost, Secretary of State (Nature), and MP for Châteauguay–Les Jardins-de-Napierville, underscores the interconnectedness of public safety and immigration issues, as well as the collaborative efforts required to combat complex problems such as the smuggling of illicit substances like fentanyl.

These visits are a testament to the government's commitment to supporting the CBSA in its mission to keep Canadians safe and secure while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel. The engagement with frontline staff is essential for informed decision-making and ensuring that the agency has the necessary resources and strategies in place to effectively manage Canada's borders.
