Israeli airstrikes claim the lives of at least 72 individuals in Gaza, as the possibility of a ceasefire seems to be on the horizon. Health officials in Gaza report that Israeli bombardments resulted in the deaths of 72 people during the night and into Saturday.

According to health workers, at least 72 people were killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza overnight and into Saturday, coinciding with increased hopes for a ceasefire after 21 months of conflict. Among the casualties were three children and their parents, who perished in an Israeli attack on a tent camp in Muwasi, near the southern city of Khan Younis, while they were asleep, according to family members.

"What could these children have done to deserve this? What is their fault?" lamented the children's grandmother, Suad Abu Teima, as others knelt to kiss their bloodied faces, mourning their loss. Some mourners placed red flowers on the body bags.
