The Los Angeles home of actor Brad Pitt has been invaded by a group of three thieves.

The trio broke into the property located in Los Feliz late on Wednesday by accessing it through a front window and proceeded to "ransack the location," as stated by the Los Angeles Police Department.

While police did not verify that the home belonged to the Oscar-winning actor, the address corresponds to a property Mr. Pitt acquired in 2023.

Authorities reported that the suspects escaped with stolen goods, although the specific items taken remain unknown. Reports from US media indicate that the actor was not present during the burglary.

Earlier this week, Mr. Pitt was in the UK for the London premiere of his new film F1, which is set to be released on Friday. He was joined by fellow Hollywood icon Tom Cruise and Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time Formula One World Drivers' Champion.

Authorities indicated that the burglary occurred around 10:30 PM local time on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles police have not disclosed the estimated value of the stolen items. The BBC has also reached out to the actor's representatives for comment.

The spacious three-bedroom residence is located just outside Griffith Park, which is home to the iconic Hollywood Sign. The property is enclosed by a substantial fence and lush greenery that provides privacy from public view.

This burglary is part of a trend of similar incidents in the city that have targeted other celebrities, including Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.

Last month, a man was arrested on charges of stalking and vandalism after allegedly crashing his vehicle into the gate of the home belonging to Pitt's ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston.
