The commission has noted a 13 percent decrease in formal complaints on a per capita basis compared to the five-year average, considering Calgary's population growth.

Released on Wednesday, the latest statistics show that approximately 78 percent of misconduct investigations in 2024 were resolved within a year—an improvement of roughly 8 percent from the previous year and a significant 25 percent increase since 2023. The commission attributes these advancements to various improvements in the complaints process, such as offering assistance in multiple languages and providing enhanced training for officers, including training focused on racial equity. Additionally, the Calgary Police Service (CPS) reported receiving about 13 percent fewer complaints per capita when compared to the five-year average.

Body-worn camera footage has played a crucial role in resolving 63 percent of the complaints last year. Of the more than 560,000 calls police responded to in the past year, only 272 resulted in complaints. For more detailed statistics and access to the complete report, please refer to the provided link.
