The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has taken action against Air Peace Limited, a major Nigerian airline, due to numerous complaints from passengers regarding unrefunded tickets for flights that were cancelled by the airline.

The Commission has summoned the management of Air Peace to appear before it on June 23, 2025, at its headquarters in Abuja, citing potential violations of Sections 130(1)(a), 130(1)(b), and 130(2)(b) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018, which mandate service providers to issue timely refunds for unfulfilled prepaid services. The FCCPC has requested Air Peace to provide evidence of its handling of refund-related complaints, records of processed refunds, and a list of all cancelled flights over the past year, among other documents. This move is aimed at ensuring that airlines adhere to consumer protection laws and regulations, particularly the rights of passengers as stipulated by the FCCPA and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Regulations 2023. The airline's failure to comply with the summons could result in penalties, including fines or imprisonment under Section 33(3) of the FCCPA. This is separate from a previous investigation into Air Peace's pricing practices, which the airline attempted to challenge through legal means.
