The UNFCCC AI for Climate Action Award is a wonderful opportunity for innovators working with AI to showcase their solutions for climate change adaptation and mitigation. To apply for the 2025 edition, you will need to meet the requirements and follow the application process outlined below:

1. **Ensure Eligibility**: The competition is open to individuals, teams, start-ups, organizations, and other entities with open-source AI-powered climate solutions developed for or in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) or Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Applicants must be above 18 years old.

2. **Prepare Your Submission**: The first round requires a written project description of no more than 500 words. Make sure to clearly articulate your AI solution, its impact on climate change, and how it aligns with the goals of the UNFCCC.

3. **Submit Your Application**: Before the deadline on July 31, 2025, submit your written project description through the official online application platform provided on the UNFCCC website. The platform will likely be accessible closer to the application period.

4. **Await Selection**: After the first round, a panel of experts will review the submissions and select a group of semifinalists. If chosen, you will be notified and invited to proceed to the next round.

5. **Create a Video Presentation**: Semifinalists will need to prepare a 3-minute video presentation of their project. This will be evaluated for content and communication skills.

6. **Final Live Pitch**: If you are one of the finalists, you will be invited to present your project in a 10-minute live virtual pitch session in September 2025. This round will focus on your ability to communicate your solution effectively and answer live questions from the judges.

7. **Attend COP30**: The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, in November 2025, where they will be awarded and have the opportunity to network with climate leaders and showcase their solution.
