PM Carney :In response to rapidly spreading wildfires in northwestern Ontario

Prime Minister Carney;

In light of the swiftly advancing wildfires in northwestern Ontario, the federal government has agreed to a request for federal assistance from the provincial authorities.

We have dispatched aircraft and personnel from the Canadian Armed Forces to aid in emergency air evacuations in the vicinity of Sandy Lake First Nation.

To all those impacted by these fires: we stand with you. We are prepared to mobilize all necessary resources to ensure the safety of Canadians.
