"As the inaugural Governor-General born in Canberra, it brings me great joy to delve into the Canberra Museum + Gallery's homage to the extraordinary women and men of the ACT who have been acknowledged over the past 50 years of the Australian honours system.
"The diverse representation of Canberrans showcased reflects the strength and variety of our local Canberra community, as well as the extensive recognition that embodies our national honours system."

The Governor-General engaged with local honorees highlighted in the exhibition, including Ebernezer Banful OAM, Dr Buuloc Lam OAM, Tracey Allen ESM, and Shane Warburton SC, to gain insights into their contributions.

This exhibition is the culmination of the dedicated efforts of many individuals, and the Governor-General expressed gratitude to CMAG CEO Gordon Ramsay, Director Anna Wong, and the teams from CMAG and the Honours and Awards Secretariat for their role in realizing this exhibition.

The Governor-General was also pleased to interact with students from Calwell Primary School, who were visiting CMAG to participate in their engaging and interactive program designed to introduce children to the delights of local art, culture, and social history.
