The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended a fraudulent journalist, Ernesto Chukwudum Chukwukamma, for purported extortion, impersonation, and unlawfully obtaining N2,000,000.00 (Two Million Naira) under false pretenses to influence the inquiry into the alleged $4,500,000,000.00 (Four Billion, Five Hundred Million United States Dollars) Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) fraud.

Chukwukamma, aged 63, was taken into custody for allegedly threatening a petitioner's life and accepting financial inducements to cease the investigation into the alleged $4,500,000,000.00 PTF fraud.

The suspect reportedly posed as a journalist affiliated with the EFCC to the petitioner. He also allegedly informed the petitioner that other journalists, members of a Correspondence Chapel linked to the Commission, had a report detailing how he misappropriated the sum of $4,500,000,000.00 during the winding down of the Petroleum Trust Fund's operations.

Investigations have shown that the suspect had already received N2,000,000.00 (Two Million Naira) from the petitioner and was arrested while attempting to withdraw the money.

He will face charges in court once the investigation is complete.
