Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has announced the launch of XChat, a new messaging feature on the X platform (formerly Twitter), which aims to compete with popular messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.

This move is part of Musk's broader vision to transform X into an "everything app" similar to WeChat in China. XChat introduces end-to-end encryption, vanishing messages, file sharing, and audio/video calling capabilities. The new feature is initially being tested among paid X subscribers and is built using Rust programming language with encryption similar to that of Bitcoin.
