Former President Muhammadu Buhari was born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, Nigeria. He is an esteemed military leader, politician, and statesman who has significantly shaped the political landscape of his country. Known for his strong stance against corruption and his dedication to national security, Buhari has served as the President of Nigeria twice, from 1983 to 1985 and again from 2015 to 2023.

Buhari's journey into the military began at a young age when he enlisted in the Nigerian Army in 1961, following his country's independence from British rule. He attended the Mons Officer Cadet School in the United Kingdom and the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Throughout his military career, he held various positions, including Governor of the North-Eastern State during the military administration of General Murtala Mohammed in 1975 and Federal Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources under the regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo in 1976.

In 1983, Buhari took over as the military head of state, following a coup that overthrew the democratically elected government of President Shehu Shagari. During his first tenure, he implemented a series of policies aimed at combating corruption, stabilizing the economy, and enforcing strict discipline throughout the country.
