The search operation, which was focused on specific areas around Gairloch Rd., involved individuals from Colchester, East Hants, Eastern Shore, Halifax, Musquodobit Valley, Pictou County, Pugwash, Springhill, Strait Area, and West Hants. The search was supported by critical resources from Nova Scotia Public Safety Field Communications and EHS Emergency Preparedness Special Operations.

The initial large-scale air and ground search commenced on May 2 and was later scaled back on May 7 to make way for more targeted searches. Despite the challenging conditions, the volunteers have collectively contributed over 10,000 hours to the mission, demonstrating remarkable commitment and resilience.

S/Sgt. Curtis MacKinnon of the Pictou County District RCMP acknowledged the volunteers' tireless efforts and their significant impact on the investigation. "Their dedication is not only appreciated by the RCMP but by the entire community affected by this tragic event," MacKinnon stated.

Following the weekend's search activities, the progress and findings will be meticulously assessed by both investigators and search managers to determine the course of action for any potential future ground and air search operations. The RCMP continues to urge anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Lilly and Jack Sullivan to come forward and assist in the ongoing search efforts.
