Last night, Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka joined a special reception aboard,the USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), the flagship of the U.S. 7th Fleet, which is currently docked at Kings Wharf in Suva.

The event celebrated the 249th anniversary of the United States' independence. Attendees included cabinet members, Assistant Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, representatives of the diplomatic community, defense officials, and other distinguished guests. The occasion emphasized the strong and lasting friendship between the United States and Fiji, as well as the shared democratic values and the increasing collaboration between the two nations. Prime Minister Rabuka expressed a warm welcome to the visiting fleet and its personnel, acknowledging the U.S. Navy's ongoing engagement in the Pacific region. The USS Blue Ridge is visiting Fiji as part of its regional goodwill tour and serves as a testament to the United States' commitment to the Pacific, along with its dedication to bolstering defense and humanitarian partnerships throughout the area.
