Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) operatives from the Epe Command have apprehended a suspected kidnapper who had been pretending to be mentally ill to avoid detection. The suspect, identified as Mr. Godwin, hails from the Ughelli Local Government Area in Delta State.

He had been closely monitored for over a month following intelligence reports and concerns from local residents. Community members reported that Mr. Godwin often made suspicious phone calls late at night and was observed changing his clothes discreetly each morning. He frequently sought refuge in an abandoned security building along Lagos Road, near the T-junction. On May 5, during a routine patrol, officers learned from residents that the suspect was temporarily away from the area. Acting quickly, the patrol team searched the building and uncovered 27 registered SIM cards hidden within a section of a block wall. Officers were dispatched, and Mr. Godwin was arrested shortly after returning to the site. During questioning, he confirmed his identity and background but refused to disclose the whereabouts of any mobile phones associated with the SIM cards. A local food vendor corroborated accounts of his unusual behavior, noting that he often appeared coherent despite his erratic lifestyle. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations proceed.
