The Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has initiated a weekly lecture series focused on the theme: 'Chain of Custody & Evidence Handling: Fundamental Forensic Awareness Training for First Responders.' This two-part series aims to impart essential knowledge regarding the proper handling, documentation, and preservation of evidence, which is vital for maintaining the integrity of forensic materials and digital evidence from the moment of seizure until they are presented in court. The first session, conducted on Friday, May 2, featured facilitators ACE 11 Joshua Oloye and CSE Alex Ogbole, with 25 officers from the Investigations, Forensics, and Security departments participating and receiving certificates of completion. In his address, Ahmad Ghali, the acting Director of Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, EFCC, emphasized that this training is part of the Commission's efforts to enhance the skills of its operatives in case management. He urged participants to implement the knowledge gained in their professional responsibilities, stating, 'This training is intended to better prepare you to circumvent potential issues and technicalities that may arise during the collection and handling of evidence, thus ensuring effective case management.': 'Chain of Custody & Evidence Handling: Fundamental Forensic Awareness Training for First Responders.'
