The soldiers participating in the SADC Mission in DRC (SAMIDRC) initiated their withdrawal from their bases located in Goma and the nearby area of Sake, traveling by road through Rwanda to Tanzania on Tuesday, as reported by a senior official from the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The official informed Daily Maverick that the troops are evacuating with all their equipment to Chato in Tanzania, which serves as the evident staging area for their return to their respective home countries. While the exact date for the completion of the withdrawal cannot be specified, it is anticipated that the process will be finalized by the end of June 2025.
