This week, the Governor-General and Mr. Beckett SC visited Abu Dhabi to commemorate fifty years of diplomatic relations between Australia and the United Arab Emirates. They received a warm reception from His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and HE Ridwaan Jadwat, Australia's Ambassador to the UAE and Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, prior to their engagements celebrating half a century of mutual respect, friendship, and cooperation. Discussions focused on the ongoing commitment of both Australia and the UAE to enhance bilateral trade and investment, with the Governor-General expressing gratitude to Minister Al Zeyoudi for his contributions to the negotiation and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and several investment Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
