For over 50 years, Townsville Aboriginal and Islander Health Service (TAIHS) has led the way in culturally safe, community-led care—delivering integrated services that improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

During her visit, the Governor-General met with the dedicated team of doctors, Indigenous health practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff who care for more than 7,200 patients.

She learned about the profound impact their care has on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across North Queensland, including mums and babies at the Maternal and Child Health Clinic.
