Title: Man remanded for allegedly stealing cables worth N1.6m

An Omi-Adio Chief Magistrates' Court has remanded a 28-year-old man, Quayum Emiola at Agodi Correctional Centre for allegedly stealing cables worth N1.6million.

The Magistrate, Moyosore Atanda, who did not take the plea of Emiola, said the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Atanda adjourned the case till October 8, for DPP's advice.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of breaking in and stealing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector Ken Brasana, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 17 at 12.30 a.m. on Egboodi Street, Abeege, Erinkojaobe, Ibadan.

Brasana said that the defendant broke into the house of the complainant, Mrs. Johnson Akwegamhe and stole the wires.

He said that the defendant was caught by security guards and handed over to the police.

Brasana said the offences contravened Sections 383 and and 411 (2) of the CriminaƂ Law of Oyo State, 2000.
