Agents from the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 10 individuals suspected of internet fraud in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.
On Friday, the EFCC announced via its verified social media accounts that the arrests took place on Thursday, March 20, 2025, during a well-coordinated operation at various sites throughout Uyo.
"Five suspects were taken into custody at Shelter Afrique, while others were apprehended at Ifa, near Oron Road, both locations in Uyo.

"Among those arrested, two are university students, three operate online clothing businesses, one is a forex trader, and another is a film director," the agency reported.
The items confiscated from the suspects include 21 mobile phones, six laptops, one international passport, and three luxury vehicles.
The anti-corruption agency further stated that the suspects will face charges in court once the investigation is complete.
