Your contributions have been invaluable and will carry on. You continue to hold significance," the Governor-General expressed to the residents of Goodwin Retirement Village. In 1954, the National Council of Women proposed the creation of a housing settlement for older residents of Canberra. Now, as the ACT's largest locally-based not-for-profit aged care provider, Goodwin aims to ensure that every individual enjoys a quality life and the chance to remain active within their community.

She also took a moment to recognize Elizabeth Reid AO in attendance for her trailblazing leadership as Australia's first female advisor to a Prime Minister.
