A motorist in Northern Ontario is facing charges related to drugs and weapons following a traffic complaint.

On March 17, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of erratic driving on Highway 101 in the Town of Matheson. During the traffic stop, officers conducted an investigation that led to the seizure of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $40,000. Additionally, a conductive energy weapon and over $2,000 in cash were confiscated.

A 24-year-old man from Holtyre was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including two counts of drug trafficking, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, possession of property obtained through crime valued under $5,000, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition in violation of a prohibition order, and failure to comply with an undertaking. He is also charged with several driving offenses, such as driving while under suspension, driving without insurance, and having cannabis readily available.

According to a news release from the OPP, the accused remains in custody.
