Title: Rivers State's emergency declaration appears politically motivated

Rivers State's emergency declaration appears politically motivated and in bad faith.  Observers recognize Bola Tinubu's partisan role in the state's crisis; his inaction is unacceptable.

The President bears responsibility for the security failures and infrastructure damage in Rivers State.  Tinubu cannot avoid accountability for the chaos his administration has either allowed or failed to prevent. His handling of the situation has reversed the peace achieved in the Niger Delta under President Umaru Yar'Adua, jeopardizing years of progress for political gain.  The President is fully responsible for damage to federal infrastructure in Rivers State. Punishing Rivers State's citizens to serve political agendas between the governor and Tinubu's federal allies is an attack on democracy and must be strongly condemned.
