The Governor-General and Mr. Simeon Beckett SC hosted Holocaust survivors, along with their families and caregivers, as well as members of the @sydneyjewishmuseum team for afternoon tea yesterday.

These survivors, now in their 80s and 90s, generously share their life narratives with school groups and visitors at the Sydney Jewish Museum. The Governor-General was profoundly touched by their kindness during her recent visit to the museum, which commemorated the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
By choosing to recount the unimaginable horrors they faced, they help ensure that we remember. It was an honor to spend time with them, to witness their experiences, and to observe the joy they have discovered in the long and extraordinary lives they have created in Australia.
