Support provided in the home by the Biggar community paramedicine team, in collaboration with local home care services, enabled one client and his spouse to reach a significant achievement of over two years without any visits to the emergency room (ER) or hospital admissions.

"Consider the potential when a patient is able to sustain their health in the comfort of their own home. It is truly uplifting to reflect on what this prolonged period of stability has meant for this couple," remarked Sherri Julé, Director of Emergency Medical Services North at the Provincial Community Paramedicine, Saskatchewan Health Authority.

In addition to receiving monthly visits from home care, the couple developed the confidence to effectively manage their health independently at home, resulting in 762 days without hospitalization or ER visits until late September 2024.
