Title: Impact of environnemental waste e.g plastic on water bodies in general
Post by: Olatunbosun on 2024-07-19 01:30
Plastic pollution is a major environmental problem that   has  a significant impact on   fisheries  resources. Plastic   waste  can entangle   fish  in  it,  blocking  their digestive tracts, and even   mistaking  it  for food. This can lead to injury, starvation, and death.| In addition, plastic pollution can also contaminate fish with harmful chemicals, which can pose a   threat  to human health.

The problem of plastic pollution is  getting worse.   Millions  of tons of plastic end up in the   ocean  every  year.|  This plastic is then ingested by fish, which can then be consumed by humans.|   Therefore,  it is important to take   measures  to reduce plastic pollution and protect   fisheries  resources.

Here are some of the specific   impacts  of plastic pollution on   fisheries  resources:

Entanglement: Plastic   waste  can entangle fish, preventing them from swimming  and   feeding  freely.  This can lead to injury, starvation, and death.

Ingestion: Fish can mistake plastic   scraps  for food and ingest   them. This can block their digestive   tract  and lead to starvation. In addition, plastic can also contain harmful chemicals that can be   ingested  by fish and pose a   threat  to human health.

Environmental  pollution:  Plastic pollution can contaminate fish with harmful   chemicals  such as PCBs and phthalates. These chemicals can build up in fish tissues and pose a   threat  to human health when   consumed  with  fish.

The problem of plastic pollution is   serious,  but there are things that can be done to reduce it. Here   we  give  you  some tips   to  reduce  plastic pollution:

Reduce   the  use of single-use   plastic.  This includes items such as plastic bags,   straws  and water bottles.

Recycle plastic whenever possible. This will help   prevent  plastic   from  entering  the environment.

Dispose of plastic properly.| Do not   litter  and   be  sure to dispose of plastic in a recycling bin or trash can.

By taking these   measures  we can help  reduce plastic pollution and protect   fishery  resources.
