"As your Governor-General, I am pleased to be able to host this gathering of commissioners and ambassadors who work at the centre of our national endeavour to protect, preserve and promote the human rights of every Australian."

Yesterday, Commissioner for Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Micaela Cronin convened a meeting at Government House to reaffirm the Commissioners' and Ambassadors' collective commitment to the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children. They conveyed a powerful sense of "hope in unity" to make Australia safe for everyone, sharing the message "together, we can deliver. Together, we say No More."

Following a Welcome to Country performed by Senior Ngunnawal Elder, Dr Aunty Caroline Hughes AM, the Governor-General who was delighted to host the important discussion, shared:
"In the week of International Women's Day, it is right that we bring the truth of violence enacted in our homes, where we work, online and in our communities – which thrives in the shade of fear – into the light.

"I am hopeful in the care and collaboration you represent. Transformative change emerges from deep and long-term partnerships that cross disciplines and spheres of interest, that bring the rigour of research to meet lived experience, and which turn evidence into practical, pragmatic and sustainable outcomes.

Group discussion included Anna Cody, Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Anne Hollands, Children's Commissioner, Chris Evans, Modern Slavery Commissioner, Gwen Cherne, Veteran Family Advocate Commission, Hugh de Krester, President, Australian Human Rights Commission, Jenna Roberts, Assistant Commissioner, Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commission, Julie Imman Grant, eSafety Commissioner, Katie Kiss, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, Lorraine Finlay, Human Rights Commissioner, Rosemary Kayess, Disability Discrimination Commissioner, and Stephanie Copus Campbell, Ambassador for Gender Equality, DFAT.
