The Federal Government has said it is working on a web application to train farmers on best agricultural practices for various crops.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, during an interview on Channels Television's Sunrise Daily programme.
Excl. Sabi Abdullahi was responding to questions on extension services to train farmers on current agricultural practices.
According to him, the reason for developing the application is the low ratio of farmers to extension workers in the country.
He said: "We are also aware that the extension worker to farmer ratio remains something that many extension workers do not have the necessary information on. We are currently working on an e-extension programme. We will develop an application that will be translated into major languages so that farmers can access and manage their farms."
