After a car stop on the Trans Canada Thursday night close to St. Jude's, two men are being charged with cocaine trafficking. Just before midnight, RCMP police pulled stopped a car and found what looked to be cocaine inside. The car was searched and its passengers, Shannon Payne, 44, of Rocky Harbour, and Stephen Goudie, 45, of Deer Lake, were taken into custody. Along with 100 cartons of illegal cigarettes ($10,000), an amount of cash, and other items consistent with drug trafficking, more than one kilogram of cocaine, worth around $35,000, was confiscated. Goudie and Payne have both been accused of possessing unstamped and illegal tobacco as well as cocaine with the intent to traffic in it.
