The Zamfara State Government has banned the night movement of motorcycles from 6pm to 6am as insecurity grips the entire state.
This is contained in a press release issued by the Senior Special Adviser on Mass Media (Broadcasting), Jaafaru Mustapha Kaura, and made available to journalists in Gusau, the state capital.
According to the statement, Governor Dauda Lawal said the measure was taken at the security meeting held at the Government House, Gusau.
The statement further said that the governor expressed dismay at the ongoing bandit activities in the state and stated that his administration was implementing impressive strategies to tackle the problem of insecurity in the state.
He, however, commended the military and security agencies for their efforts in the fight against bandits and urged them to redouble their efforts.
Recall that the former governor of the state, now minister, Bello Mohammed, during his administration, had banned motorcyclists from riding at night but this did not yield any positive results.
The former governor also shut down telecommunication networks across the state in an attempt to stop the situation but nothing went as expected.
