The anti-corruption agency also noted that according to its records, internet fraud outnumbered the convictions and criminal cases it investigates and called on the public to provide it with useful information to assist in its work.
The commission made this disclosure during an anti-corruption walk in Port Harcourt organized by the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in collaboration with civil society organizations and sister security agencies and Relief International Africa to commemorate the 2024 African Union Anti-Corruption Day with the tag "Effective Whistleblower Protection Mechanism, a Critical Tool in the Fight against Corruption".
The Acting Zonal Director of EFCC, Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate, Adebayo Adeniyi, said oil theft was one of the crimes that made the fight against corruption in the state special, pointing out that the level of crime in the state was high.
