Between June 2020 and September 2021, the victims from across Canada accepted random friend requests on social media by the suspect, claiming to be active service members of the Military stationed overseas. With time, the friendly communication developed into what the victims believed was a  relationship.
The suspect used scripted stories about how he needed the victim's financial help with his transition home from his military deployment. Agreeing to help and with the assurance of being reimbursed, the victims complied and sent several monetary transfers to the  suspect.
Eleven victims from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Quebec are at a total loss of  $275,000.
On Jan. 27, 2025, 30-year-old Chukwuka Emmanuel Williams failed to appear for his court appearance and is currently wanted for the following offences: Defraud the Public, Fraud Over $5000 (X10), Fraud Under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime  (X11).
He is described as 6'1, 165 lbs, with black hair in short dreadlocks and brown eyes. He has multiple tattoos on his body, including his chest and forearms.
